Maggie's Mock Wings

  • 12 ounce can of Turkey SPAM
  • 3 tablespoons ghee or margarine or butter or butter flavored shortening
  • 3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce or Tabasco
  • Creamy salad dressing for dipping, optional

Open the SPAM and cut it in into 4 rectangle slices. Cut each slice in half longways. You should have 8 chubby "fingers" now. Cut each finger diagonally, longways. Now you should have 16 "fingers" that are skinny on one end and fat on the other end like triangles. These are your mock wings. Fry them in butter until they are lightly browned. Pour the hot sauce over top and gently coat the mock wings with the sauce. Serve with mayonnaise or a creamy dressing like Ranch or Blue Cheese. Makes 3 to 4 servings. These are best served alongside a mild bean and rice dish. They tend to be addictive so proceed with caution.

I tried to share this recipe with the folks who make SPAM but they don't accept recipes from consumers so I'm sharing it with you instead. I invented it myself with my own  brain in my own kitchen. If you share this recipe with others please keep “Maggie” in the title so that if it gains popularity the people at SPAM will know it's from me.
