Southern Greens

  • 15 ounce can Greens, any kind--collards, kale, mustard, turnip etc.
  • 1 tablespoon butter or alternative of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon bacon bits, real or soy
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vingear
  • 1 teaspoon or cube beef bouillon
  • 1/8 teaspoon EACH black pepper and cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon EACH onion powder and sugar

This is one of the best recipes on the whole website. Fred requests it for holidays and people are always surprised and delighted to find it on the menu. If you don't like greens, this recipe could make a believer out of you.
The process is easy enough. Put all of the ingredients into a small saucepan. Cover and simmer over a medium flame for 5 minutes or so. Serve hot with a slotted spoon.

To make a light luncheon serve this with cornbread or cornmuffins. For a big meal, good enough for company, add Family Favorite Pinto Beans to the menu.

Proverbs 31:27  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
