Old-Fashioned Lemonade

  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Water to make 2-quarts

Combine all of the ingredients in a 2-quart pitcher. Stir briskly until the sugar dissolves. This is strong enough to serve over a full glass of ice. To fill a gallon-sized pitcher double the recipe.

This is probably the most popular beverage we serve. It's a little pricier than some of our other favorites so we usually save it for Sundays and holidays. I've never met anyone who didn't love this recipe. To make it go further, fill the cups with ice before pouring on the lemonade. Makes 2-quarts or 8-servings; 1-cup each.
