Salisbury Steaks

  • 2 to 2-1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons dry onion
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Measure all of the ingredients into a large bowl. Make sure your hands are clean. Use your hands to mash all of the ingredients together like play dough. Continue until everything is well distributed, especially the spices.

Divide the mixture into 12 portions, about 1/3-cup each. Shape each portion into an oval steak. Arrange them on a large cookie sheet. Use the kind with sides because there will be a lot of fat when the steaks are done cooking.

Bake the steaks at 400° for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Carefully drain off the fat. Serve with a favorite gravy. Brown Gravy and Pepper Cream Gravy are both especially good.

Proverbs 31:27  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
